In Stockholm County, the Lumena and Conecto projects are helping 1,600 people to find work and 1,000 people to receive skills development programmes. The projects were launched through seven coordination organisations in Stockholm County. The Finsam Act, which governs the associations, is now to be reviewed, and the coordination associations will then be involved in providing advice. The aim is to give people better support on their way to finding work.
- We are so grateful for this opportunity," says Fredrik Lundén, chairman of the National Network for Co-ordination Associations (NNS).
The coordination organisations, together with their members, have extensive experience in running projects that help people on their way to work.
- Through this work, we have gathered experience that we believe can contribute to better legislation," says Ajda Asgari, board member of two of the unions in the county.
The aim of the coordination associations is to coordinate the support that their members - the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Swedish Public Employment Service, regions and municipalities - can provide. People do not fall through the cracks, and more people get help.
The government now wants to strengthen this coordination. A first step on the way is to review the legislation governing the co-operation, the Finsam Act. The Ministry of Social Affairs has therefore commissioned the Swedish Social Insurance Agency to analyse the need for changes to the Act, in dialogue with the NNS and the coordination associations.
- We are now taking a further step towards improving this coordination so that more people can be helped to empower themselves, find their own work and support themselves," says Anna Tenje, Minister for Elderly and Social Security.
