How social norms creep into the work of professionals

Public servants often meet people at their most vulnerable moments.

We want to help, support and promote change, but what happens when the well-intentioned profession unwittingly becomes a carrier of the societal norms we are supposed to fight?

This knowledge seminar looks at how narrow everyday experience can cement racist and class-based stereotypes. These stereotypes can then permeate our practice, language and judgements.

We will also discuss practical strategies for self-reflection, critical scrutiny of our practices and how we can actively counteract these mechanisms.

🌷Föreläsare: Kitimbwa Sabuni, organisationsutvecklare med två decenniers erfarenhet av att arbeta mot rasism i organisationer.
