20 years of the FINSAM law!

Yesterday, the Coordination Associations in Stockholm County held an inspiring conference, where we gathered to spread knowledge and share valuable experiences. A special milestone was recognised - the FINSAM Act celebrates 20 years!

Over the past two decades, collaboration between our different actors has been strengthened on several levels. But what have we learnt along the way, and what does the future of FINSAM hold?
How can we best support jobseekers who are far from the labour market in their journey to work or study?

These were precisely the issues that were lively discussed during the day. Central to the discussions was the review of FINSAM and its potential as a place for joint dialogue on what people actually need to get into work. The importance of external funding to enable effective interventions was also highlighted.
When the Coordination Associations meet and concretise the support, the step to implementation is much shorter.

An important reminder was also that work and employment are not just about economics, but also about context and meaningfulness. Work needs to be part of rehabilitation. A common follow-up system is therefore crucial to monitor the progress of all participants and ensure that the interventions have a real impact.

The ongoing review of the FINSAM Act has prompted politicians at ministerial level to recognise and value the important work done by the Coordination Associations at local level. We look forward to continued collaboration and to working together to create even better conditions for those who need support from several different parts of the welfare system.

The Östra Södertörn Coordination Association was present and talked about two of our initiatives: the Joint Authority Team (MGT) and the ESF projects Lumena Conecto. Anna Lexelius, Head of the Association, also represents the National Network for Coordination Associations (NNS) and led discussions on the revision of the FINSAM Act and what the representatives of the parties at the conference dream of in a future new legislation.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to a successful conference!
