Dèsirée and Stefan are two participants in Lumena who, prior to the project, had lived in exclusion for many years and had fallen through the cracks on several occasions.
They were so unwell for various reasons associated with exclusion that they suffered from mental illness and even attempted suicide.
Mental health problems are in many cases the ultimate consequence of falling between the cracks in terms of lack of employment, living below the poverty line, but also lacking the strength to deal with authorities and being neglected.
With the support of Lumena, they have received coordinated support with different agencies, help finding employment and jobs, and now have a bright future.
