1. Can you briefly describe your role as an accompanying researcher in this project?
"My role as an accompanying researcher is primarily about creating knowledge about the conditions for collective competence development and knowledge dissemination. By identifying both difficulties and opportunities to achieve collective learning, research can contribute to organisational development.
2. What are the most interesting or unexpected insights you have seen so far in your research?
What has surprised me most so far is the high level of commitment of all the people I have met at various meetings and activities. Everyone seems very keen to work for a positive development. This bodes very well for the project and its future activities.
3. What are the main challenges you have encountered in your role as an accompanying researcher?
I have not yet encountered a huge challenge. But it is always a big challenge to achieve collective competence development in large organisations, not least inter-organisational learning. That is what makes this project so interesting!
More about Jon Ohlsson's follow-up research and the link to the project
Jon researches and teaches about organisational pedagogy and learning in working life, with a particular focus on collective learning in teams and organisations. The overall aim of the research is to develop the county-wide structure for competence development and to develop a model for competence development that promotes collective learning.
The follow-up research is conducted as a qualitative interview study with case study elements and focuses on interviewing people in key positions. Through strategic sampling, opportunities and obstacles for collective learning and competence development within different organisations are investigated. The research is based on a close dialogue between researchers, project leaders and managers to continuously integrate research findings into development work. Some parts of the research are carried out in collaboration with Master's students, where the researcher also has supervisory and scientific responsibility.
A first sub-study has been carried out and focuses on the project management team's experiences of opportunities and obstacles for collective competence development and knowledge sharing within the organisation and across organisational boundaries. The report is also part of a master's thesis.
On Thursday, you will have the opportunity to listen to Jon as he talks more about collective learning and skills development. To register for the knowledge seminar (link): Collective learning and learning organisations - Conecto (casaclient.se)
