Lumena Conectos Performance dialogue for employer cooperation

Earlier this week, we gathered for a fruitful performance dialogue on how to strengthen employer cooperation and increase employment for all.

We listened to participants describe the feeling of no longer being the fifth wheel, but the fourth. To fulfil a function and mean something. Self-esteem grows when you can contribute.

On site, we wanted to honour employers who Järfälla municipality Burger King Stockholm City Archives Detus moulded plastic and Systembolaget AB. They emphasised the importance of working on the basis of one's own abilities, and that what some see as weaknesses can rather be a strength. However, in order to accommodate more people with different abilities, they emphasised the need to:
🔸More flexibility in working hours of participants, e.g. possibilities for evening and weekend work.
🔸Better information on participants' strengths and development areas to create the right match and support.
🔸Training for supervisors and employers to feel confident in how to support in the workplace.

Systembolaget AB also reminded them of their social responsibility:

”Leading is not just showing the way but taking overall responsibility for those you work with. Systembolaget is a workplace for everyone.”

Thank you to all committed employers for your important contribution to an inclusive labour market✨

During the panel discussion with John Droguett, representative from The Public Employment Service, Arvid Vikman Rindevall, Jessica Rodén, Lumena participants and an SE facilitator discussed opportunities and challenges and key messages:
💬 “Unemployment is a structural challenge - we know what works, do more of it.”
💬 “Municipalities and the state must support adaptations - the responsibility cannot lie solely with employers.”
💬 “Confidence in the Supported Employment method makes a difference - it works.”
💬 “See opportunities to transform income support into employment.”

The Lumena participation project has reached more people than its target, but the needs remain high. Let's continue to believe in the individual and that with the right support and collaboration, more individuals can grow and increase employment for all.

Thank you to everyone who came today and contributed to important conversations and insights! ✨
